The most common thing that comes into our mind when we feel back pain is pain reliever and/or NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Because it tends to give us immediate relief. But do they really benefit from its benefits rather than its harmful effects?

The researchers from The Georgia Institute in Australia has found that people who are suffering from back pains and took NSAIDs, causes side effect and only provide a little benefit when consumed. The institute also added that “earlier research has already demonstrated paracetamol is ineffective and opioids provide minimal benefit over placebo.”.

The Georgia Institute’s lead author had said that “Back pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide and is commonly managed by prescribing medicines such as anti-inflammatories. But our results show anti-inflammatory drugs actually only provide very limited short term pain relief. They do reduce the level of pain, but only very slightly, and arguably not of any clinical significance.”.

Below are a couple of natural ways to relieve lower back pain without anti-inflammatory drugs (Information from Everyday Health and Health).

  1. Cold and Heat Compress

A licensed chiropractor in private practice in New York City, Lauri Grossman, DT, told Everyday Health that “I always tell my patients to experiment with hot and cold packs to see which feels better for them”.
